Hello Nostalgia

Sorry I haven't been around lately, but I've been into the old school punk of my high school days (well, not FROM my high school days, just what I listened to). So break out the studded belt and angry attitude about the world and enjoy.

Hose is a No.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I think nylons are awful. Unless you're a secretary over the age of 60, you should never wear hose! I see girls that wear them, and it looks disgusting! If there worn with open toe shoes, just sign up for the old age home right now. There is never an occasion or outfit that requires you to wear nylons. Maybe, maybe if you have really bruised discolored legs, then they would be alright in a very sheer in EXACTLY the same shade as your skin, and ONLY with closed toe shoes. Even when hose is worn with pants and shoes, it seriously ages you. It is never that cold that you can't go without socks, they don't even give you that much extra warmth! The only person I have ever seen that pulled off nylons perfectly was my high school A.P. English teacher, Ms. Hague, and it was because she was amazingly classy with awesome style, and hers matched her skin tone absolutely perfectly. The only reason I knew she wore them (because she NEVER wore them with open toed shoes) was when she took her shoes off to demonstrate a ballet move. And, oh yeah, she was 65!

So, in conclusion, PLEASE don't wear hose, and if you do, you BETTER make sure no one can tell!

Tis the Season of Ugly Shoes

I don't know what happening lately, but this season seems overrun by horribly ugly shoes! In my oppinion, the worst offender is Balenciaga. Their shoes look like a crazy accident in a bad 90's fashion factory. My point exactly in this winner here:

It looks like a high heeled rollerblade mixed with some old school Reeboks, in case you couldn't decide between the two.

Thinking that maybe it was a one-time fluke? Oh no, my friend. Check out this monstrosity of a boot:

It's like the designers couldn't decide between a slingback, a pump, or a boot, so they said, "Shit! Mix 'em up!" and came out on the other side with this unfortunate creation.

Balenciaga isn't the only one making unfortunate shoe decisions this season. It seems like the new trend is to have a boot that looks like a regular shoe with a sock under it. This wouldn't be a good look if anyone decided to wear socks with shoes like that, so why would they make them permanently attached together!
Here's one from Stella McCartney:

And another, even worse one by Marc Jacobs:

So I leave you with one final fug shoe by Christian Lacroix, and here's hoping you have some better looking shoes next season, designers.

The new Roberto Cavalli line hits H&M today! Too bad there isn't an H&M store near me that carries it. Hope you're closer and can check it out! I hear it's lots of metalics and animal prints, always a good thing.

Late-Night?

This was supposed to be my late-night wrap-up post, but because of the writer's strike, there are no new episodes this week. It was supposed to be such a good one too! Grizzly Bear on Conan! It also seems that Saturday Night Live is in danger as well, and Amy Winehouse and Jonah Hill's episodes have already been canceled.
